Apple is going to split its iTunes into different apps

According to the latest reports from Apple, the lumbering behemoth of a service by the company, iTunes is soon coming to an end.

According to the tech media and Steven Troughton Smith, an iPhone app developer, the upcoming version of macOS which is version 10.5 is most likely to breakdown the iTunes into different following apps.

  • Music
  • Podcast
  • TV

Apple iTunes, which was released back in 2001, at that time provided people with an ease of organizing their music collections not only digitally but also to add new music to their iPods before the time when Wi-Fi or music streaming services became a norm and most importantly CDs were still a thing.

However, the current iTunes has been repurposed in many different ways to add in it a wide array of media which according to most users have made iTunes too bloated and unsustainable.

The only logical step that Apple can now take is to provide users with separate and elegant apps that will allow them to deal with customer’s data efficiently. As it seems, this is what is going to happen next.

Apple has already made the announcement this March that their TV app will now be combining on Mac this fall season. Users will be able to have access to Apple’s new TV+ streaming service. This TV service will allow users to rent or purchase movies as well as pay TV subscriptions.

As of now, only Podcasts and Apple Music are available on the iTunes of macOS.

As for the upcoming break off apps, these are most likely to be developed with Apple’s in-development technology named Marzipan.  Marzipan allows the apps to not only develop but also work seamlessly across all of the following Apple devices.

  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • Mac

Still, do not be sad about the death of iTunes just yet. According to tech media, the service will most likely remain on the macOS 10.15 as Apple still needs the time to figure out the function of syncing iPods as well as the iPhones with Mac.
