HarmonyOS is the name of the new OS from Huawei -

The time of unveiling is finally on us. Huawei has been in the news of creating a new operating system in order to replace the Android and now it is hear and is named as “HarmonyOS”. As for the Chinese name of this software, it is “Hongmeng”.

According to Huawei, this operating system is the microkernel-based distributed one that when used on devices like smartphones, wearables, smart speakers and in-vehicle systems will be able to create the shared ecosystem for all the devices.

In order to encourage the worldwide adoption of HarmonyOS; Huawei will launch it on an open-source platform.

The plan of Huawei is to launch the HarmonyOS for the smart screen products first sometime later this year and then move on to expand its working on the wearables in the next three years.

While it is not known what smart screen device will actually feature this new OS, but rumors suggest that Huawei’s subsidiary company Honor will bring this OS to the Smart TV.

The initial focus of the Huawei is to launch this OS in China first and then move it into other markets.

Richard Yu, the CEO for the Huawei’s consumer business group said, “This is completely different from both the iOS and Android as it has the ability to work across different types of devices. You need to develop your apps only once and then deploy them across the range of different devices.”

In the past, it was not clear whether HarmonyOS will be able to work for the smartphones or the other internet devices but now it happens to have answered the question. It will work for both.

While the official device to opiate this OS the rumor is that the successor of the Huawei’s previous smartphone named Mate 20 Pro will be the next smartphone to feature this OS. The device is expected to hit the markets in the 4^th quarter of 2019.
