Lyft offers more families with discounted rides to grocery stores

For families that are living in places from where the distance to the marketplaces is like traveling a desert, Lyft has decided to make a difference.

Back in January, the ride-hailing service called Lyft built a specific program for the people living in Washington, DC, in order for them to get to these inaccessible stores easily. Lasts week, the program after its success in Washington was expanded to a more than 12 other cities.

According to data collected by Lyft, nearly 2.3 million Americans who are in low-income line live in rural areas are located at least 10 miles away from their nearest supermarket. For them to get to these stores is extremely difficult based on the fact that they have to rely on either public transits or have minimum access to a car.
