If someone finds a room with closet space, then he is a lucky fellow because others normally have to hang their belongings on the walls. This room has an average rent of 500 dollars per month.

3.   Tiny apartments for the young folk

To live life independently in Hong Kong is a very difficult thing due to the rent of apartments costing a whole lot of money. A flat with only 1 bedroom in these cage homes in honk Kong located in the suburbs comes with a monthly rent of almost 1650 dollars while the average salary of men is about 2500 dollars whereas of women, it is about 1900 dollars. This is why young folk only rent tiny rooms where it is often very hard to move. Most of these apartments also lack the space for a kitchen.

Now the so-called wealthy people in Hong Kong, who have apparently struck it gold at work can now rent or sometimes own their own apartments that have the bathroom and kitchen right inside these cage homes in Hong Kong. Still, these apartments are really small and only 4 to 5 people can barely squeeze themselves in them. The area of these middle-class apartments is about 215 to 270 square feet.

Often the family members do not have their individual bedrooms. This is the reason; some Hong Kong families get creative by adding futuristic beds as well as other types of stuff to serve for extra rooms.
