YouTube Gaming app getting shut down this week

The famed YouTube Gaming app is going to get shut down on this May 30th. This impending shutdown of the YouTube Gaming app was announced by YouTube back in 2018 when they stated that the spinoff app has caused confusion among many of the gaming fans.

Instead of the standalone YouTube Gaming app, YouTube has now integrated the service now into its main app as they now launch a gaming-focused hub which has already replaced several of its old YouTube Gaming.

YouTube has prompted its many users in its help page to switch from the old YouTube Gaming app to their newer game hub. YouTube has also merged both YouTube and its YouTube Gaming subscriptions. Still many of the games that users have saved on YouTube Gaming app, they will be lost.

The page explains to the fans in the following statement,

“We launched YouTube Gaming as a standalone app for gamers where we tested out new features based on the gaming community’s feedback. We want to continue to build a stronger home for the gaming community that thrives on YouTube.”

YouTube Gaming was launched back by YouTube in 2015 as a way to promote YouTube’s endeavor to improve the live streaming experience for its users and to keep the irrelevant content away from gaming users. This YouTube Gaming app was also a testbed by YouTube for its many features such as the channel membership along with Dark Mode.

Still, despite the news of shut down, YouTube states that many of its gaming users already use the main app for viewing videos and many users still do not get as to what YouTube Gaming app was actually for.
