Spotify making strides in market with 100 million paid subscribers worldwide

Despite the Spotify having their occasional troubles from the tech giant like Apple, they are still making huge progress in their business.

Earlier this week on Monday, Spotify released the financial report for its first quarter of 2019. According to this report, Spotify now has over 217 million active users across the world. Out of these nearly 100 million are the paid subscribers. The major part of this business growth is all thanks to the promotions in the US and Canada.

As compared to the streaming service’s competitors Apple Music, Spotify now owns nearly twice the number of paid subscribers worldwide. Earlier in April, Apple released the statement that it currently has over 50 million paid subscribers worldwide.

The major offers as a part of the promotion from Spotify are providing its paid subscribers a free of cost Google Home Mini along with a bundle including Hulu. The major growth that Spotify has seen has come from India.

In addition to India, the music streaming service is now currently making its presence known majorly in 79 other countries. In the first week of its promotion in India, Spotify saw a sign up from nearly 1 million users and now it is currently at 2 million users.

While Spotify is making huge in numbers of paid subscribers across the world, it is not doing so well in America as compared to Apple Music.

In the US, Apple Music currently has 28 million paid subscribers while Spotify is currently at 26 million subscribers, as per the report from the Wall Street Journal Report released earlier in April.

Still, it is great for an emerging company like Spotify to not have stagnated growth, the most recent investment by Spotify is in the podcasting after it acquired companies like Gimlet and Anchor back in February.
