One of the popular ride-hailing services from China that only offers electric cars for its services has become fed up with Tesla.
The name of the company is IUnicorn or also better known by the name Shenma Zhuanche in China expressed their extreme frustration and annoyance related to the electric car manufacturer last week when they rented Times Square Billboards. These Billboards expressing the IUnicorn’s frustration were directed at the Tesla Company in order to publically shame the company for providing customers with faulty vehicles.
In addition to these billboards, IUnicorn, on their Webio page presented a campaign where they called out to everyone about the poor quality control of Tesla in China. These large Times Square Billboards are also the part of the very same public shaming campaign.
According to the reports of the media, these messages only remained on these billboards for a mere 30 minutes. It is still not known why these billboards were removed.
According to media sources, the IUnicorn had rented these billboards as a part of their campaign in order for them to get 1 million dollars from Tesla. These 1 million dollars were asked in lieu of repair costs on nearly 20 percent of the company’s total 278 vehicles which they purchased a few years ago from Tesla.
According to the reports of the company, they experienced electrochemical issues which caused the vehicles to be unavailable for 3.5 million minutes due to the repair time.
The message was posted on these billboards in Mandarin and can be roughly translated into English as follows.
- Tesla, Fix it or not
- Tesla Pay us or not
- Tesla, admit it or not
Many media outlets have reached out to Tesla for comments on these accusations made by IUnicorn. So far there is no response from Tesla over all this.
As for Tesla’s business right now, they are delivering their Model 3 Sedans over to China and have also started to install a factory in Shanghai which will be completed by the end of 2019.
